Arizona Speed & Marine has been approached by several owners of the Paxton based supercharger kit sold with auxiliary injectors.
The system doesn’t supply equal fuel distribution into each cylinder and causing lean cylinders and piston failure. It’s the domino effect; some cylinders are over fueled and the ECU is correcting by trying to maintain air fuel ratios near 14.7 to 1, and reduces the injector pulse width while under boost, and causes severe damage to the pistons and engine.
The Paxton based system can now be converted on the 5.7L engine and the 6.1L engines.
The original supercharger must be modified to change the angle of the discharge towards the firewall where the larger after cooler is mounted and the new discharge duct to the engine. This requires the supercharger be sent to AS&M to have the impeller housing changed and have clearances set up between the impeller and new housing.
A 2.5 BAR manifold pressure sensor provides feedback to the PCM under various boost conditions. The PCM can then control the larger injectors to supply the proper amount of fuel to provide equal fuel distribution to each cylinder. Also, the Predator hand held programmer allows modification of several tables including fan, torque management, spark and fuel tables, operation of idle speed and rear O2 sensor operation. This is the same proven system used on AS&M’s Hemi supercharger kit.
The original PCM file must be downloaded into the Diablo handheld programmer, this file can then be saved on your PC. You will then e-mail this file to Arizona Speed and Marine where the file will be modified and e-mailed back to be downloaded into the vehicles PCM using the Diablo programmer.
You can now run your supercharger and have an option for the auxillary injector fiasco.
